Lead Hazard Reduction Grant
The Safe Housing and Healthy Homes
Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Grant. The program aims to increase awareness of housing-related health hazards, lead poisoning prevention, and the principles of a healthy home through grants to families residing in homes with lead-based paint. We encourage vulnerable and low-income populations to learn more about the program, take the necessary steps to feel safe in their homes, and improve their quality of life. If the home tests positive for lead, you may be eligible for minor rehabilitation to address those lead hazards.
Healthy Homes Production Grant
The program helps individuals experiencing health issues or concerns that may be linked to environmental hazards in the home by providing repairs and interventions to reduce those hazards, improve indoor living conditions, and create safer housing environments for residents. Services may include building wheelchair ramps, address trip hazards, and completing other safety-related improvements throughout the home. In many of the homes served, modifications include replacing traditional tubs with walk-in showers and making additional accessibility improvements to help make the home more ADA-compliant and better suited to the needs of elderly individuals and people with disabilities.
Weatherization
Provides assistance to qualifying individuals to make their homes more energy efficient. Funding is provided by the Departments of Energy and Health and Human Services, passed through the Louisiana Housing Finance Agency to the Louisiana Association of Community Action Partnerships, Inc, who in turn contract with the Association to perform the services.
